“Team Space IL views its participation in this competition as a national mission, one that will help develop its space industry and promote scientific awareness among the country's youth," says Yariv Bash, Team Leader. "Team Space IL is a non-profit organization, and will contribute profits from the venture to promote scientific education in Israel."

Kfir Damari, the team's COO, adds: “The American space program sparked the imagination of an entire generation. We hope that our project will inspire today's youth in Israel and around the world in a similar way, presenting them with a role model that teaches them to aim higher, both literally and figuratively.”

The Space IL team has created great excitement in this small but high-tech oriented country and has received encouragement from important figures, including the Chairman of the Israeli Space Agency. The team has sparked interest among leading aerospace industries such as the Israeli Aerospace Industry, Elbit Systems, Aeronautics, Plasan, and others. It has also received initial support and promises of assistance from Israel’s' leading academic institutions and NGOs such as the Asher Space Research Institute at the Technion in Haifa, Tel-Aviv University, Ben-Gurion University in Beer Sheva, the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) in Herzliya, as well as the Ramon Foundation and the Israeli Nano-Satellite Association.

According to Yonatan Winetraub, the team's CTO, “Team Space IL’s solution will utilize Israel’s expertise in developing small satellites and other technologies, which we hope to use to our advantage.”
