Team Italia @ Global Exploration Conference
Team Italia was in Washington for the great event of the Global Exploration Conference held in May 22-24, 2012. The most relevant representatives in the world from Companies, Agencies and Academies attended the meeting which gave the opportunity for a fruitful exchanges of ideas, plans, visions for the Space Exploration. "The Moon is the Nearest Earth Object we have, therefore exploring the Moon is, among others, a way to start exploring NEOs" - basically said Prof. Neal Clive from University of Notre Dame, USA -, so let us start from the Moon for science, technology testing and humans iin space training!
On Thursday 24 afternoon a panel discussion was dedicated to the 2Lunar Frontiers - preserving lunar history and gaining science through government-commercial collaboration" during which Alex All and Amanda Stiles, on behalf of the GLXP with major representatives of NASA presented the Google XPrize lunar competition and the interest of the US agency in exploiting that opportunity for different science on the Moon, looking for synergies with other scheduled NASA missions like the LADEE.
Team Italia successfully presented its project and state-of-the-art in the Tuesday morning session "Goals and Status of the Future Lunar Missions ", sparking interest in the audience and opening an important contact to possibly embark a scientific payload on our lander\rover system.
