The first part of the video about the Team Italia presentation at the 4th international workshop on verification and testing of space systems is on-line.
The photo posted below was taken during the 4th international workshop on verification and testing of space systems at the Politecnico di Torino where Abele Quaregna e Diego Cardile presented for the Team Italia. They pose near the poster that the Team prepared to shows the main features of the Mission on the Moon surface.
The new video shows a 3D simulation of the landing mission phase of an hypothetical Moon Lander performed by the students of the Politecnico di Torino during the space mission design course. After some orbits around the Moon the spacecraft performs the touchdown in the selected landing site. The simulations are useful to test the developed GNC algorithms.
Team Italia presented at the 4th international workshop on verification and testing of space systems
Yesterday, the 4th international workshop on verification and testing of space systems ended with a considerable success. During the three days event, engineers from many countries of the word showed the main results of their activities. In the session “VERIFICATION APPROACHES IN A COMMERCIAL CONTEXT”, the Team Italia presented the main results of the verification and testing activities that have been performed on the first spacecraft components.
The Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) is a particular circular orbit around the Earth. The objects in this orbit (about 35800 km above the Earth's equator) have an orbital period equal to the Earth's rotational period and appear fixed in the sky. Communications and weather satellites are usually in this orbit so that antennas can remain fixed.
The video shows a simulation of a satellite in GEO.
The second part of the presentation that Luigi Schirone of Team Italia held in AREZZO at the LIONS CLUB follows.
NASA confirmed that the Italian Astronuat, Luca Parmitano, will perform EVA (Extra Vehicle Activity) excursions during the long duration mission Expedition 36 (renamed “Volare”) at the ISS (Internation Space Station).
This is the first time that an Italian astronaut performs extra-vehicular activities and this gives great importance to our nation as the ASI (Italian Space Agency) president Enrico Saggese said.
Two new videos have been loaded on the official youtube channel of the Team Italia.
The videos show some simulation performed by the students of the Politecnico di Torino during the course of aerospace system engineering. The videos show the basic operating principle concerning how Earth observation satellites acquire and transmit information.
The satellite sends a signal toward the ground to receive and process the echo signal. Then, the information is send to the Ground station.
4th international workshop on verification and testing of space systems will held in Turin (Italy) the 21-22-23th May 2013. The workshop is organized by Politecnico di Torino and Thales Alenia Space and sponsored by some of the main space agencies of the word (ASI, CSA, ESA, JAXA, NASA) in collaboration with the Italian Secretariat General of Defence / National Armaments Directorate, AIDAA and Piedmont Aerospace District.
A presentation about the AMALIA Mission was given by Luigi Schirone of Team Italia at AREZZO, a pleasant town in Tuscany. The event was organized by the LIONS CLUB AREZZO HOST and the LEO CLUB AREZZO. During the soiree, dedicated to "The Moon and the dream of Mankind", the participants were able to have a close look at an original telescope built by Galileo Galilei, normally exposed at the civic museum.
