TI Supporters QnA session (3/4)
For our 5000 fan celebration we asked our supporters to post questions for us on our Facebook wall - great experience, good fun!
Some questions and their responses provided below (2/3):
Jasmeet Singh
...***what are the future aspects of this mission,as far as new youth job oriented seekers are concerened.?????...
Team Indus
Hi Jasmeet, Education outreach is one of the 3 main KRAs of our mission, although we dont expect to directly create jobs, however we will be happy to have help jumpstart private aerospace industry in our country. We expect this industry to be a rising star and create more than employment in the times to come.
Dhiraj Gupta
How do you plan to use the information collected during this mission? are you going to make those details available to public like schools etc.
Team Indus
Hi Dhiraj, Team Indus will be collecting limited data, most of it we will offer on an open community. Subject to us winning GLXP, our mission details including strategy, sourcing, licensing & shortcuts taken will be part of a controlled information dissemination exercise!
Vipin Kamboj
What u have todo with ur lunar rover after it become defunct?
Team Indus
Interesting question Vipin, we plan for the Rover to get to a place where it can still “see the sun” and somehow manage to keep a “homing beacon” going for as long as it can.
Rahul Gupta
How you will protect your lunar rover from solar radiations?
Team Indus
Hi Rahul, good question, the key challenges of any inter-planetary mission are protection from radiation, heat / cold and on the moon from moon-dust also called regolith. You can read more about this on our Blogs.

8. Apart from the core objective of the Lunar X prize competition, is the team thinking of adding on anything from there side to the mission. Like. installing drilling unit, collection of rocks and soil samples, dust particles, look for water or may be gases for further study and research? Are you getting such requests from any researchers?
9. Team Jurban is of 9-25 in age. Do you find them competitive enough?
10. You mentioned(interview) about the other X prize staff who could be good competitors to you. So, now since the inception of project all over, do you see any team close to you? OR Which team is doing the best at the moment?
11. Have you chosen the craft name?
12. What is your current stakeholder's stand? (for funding and other resources)
Team Indus
(8) We have a few simple additional scientific goals for the Rover to accomplish when it lands on the moon - nothing very exotic though!
(9) Team Jurban led by Blaze are an amazing group of people - we admire their initiatives and efforts.
(10) There are lots of teams "ahead of us", notably Astrobotic & Moon Express - we are playing catch up at this point, wish us good luck!
(11) No we havent decided on a craft name as yet - TBD: To be Decided
(12) We are a closely held Private Limited organization registered in New Delhi, India

1. Is you Rocket is made up of Carbon Fiber or some other Material is used to made likewise Al.?
2. Is your project bring a new way or a new path towars reserch side?
3. I think your project will cross the amount of around upto 60 crore..is this amount is utilize to wash away the poverty in INDIA?
Team Indus
(1) Our ride upto Low earth orbit is aboard PSLV, so we arent making the rocket - the Lander however will use space grade composites
(2) We are fortunate to follow in the footsteps of lots of scientists who have done a lot of research and managed several successful missions to the moon - we will probably have our own small share of Aerospace related IPR by the time we are done with the mission.
(3) We wish we could “wash away poverty” that too for 60Cr, this project can potentially work towards creating greater awareness about advanced sciences, encourage more young people to take up Scientific research as a career option – and hopefully somewhere down the line we would have done our bit to make this world a better place to live in!
Arun Bansal
Team Indus my question: is it really worth exploring the moon and the amount which is spent on its reseach, can't it be utilized for poor people..
Team Indus
Hi Arun, I wish we could do something about poverty within the limited budgets we have - poverty eradication will require systemic changes, focus on healthcare, labor reforms and more -- this project, however, can potentially work towards creating greater awareness about advanced sciences, encourage more young people to take up Scientific research as a career option – and hopefully somewhere down the line we would have done our bit to make this world a better place to live in!
Divya Sharma
My question is: What will be the future scope of this project?
Team Indus
Hi Divya, the GLXP competition is the starting point, we are functioning like an Aerospace start-up at this point, we expect this organization to mature into a serious Aerospace solutions & services provider by the time we get done with GLXP. Therefore consulting, education outreach & future mission to the moon and hopefully beyond!
Sourabh Kaushal
2 You need to design a critical path design. You need to modularize your plans, and say which steps are prequesites for which other steps.
Team Indus
Hi Sourabh, there are several moving pieces and a multitude of teams, organizations, agencies, approvals & licensing that we need to co-ordinate. We have a top-level plan that allocates responsibilities and targets, we use this plan to track our team’s progress on a monthly basis.
