W Rameesha De Silva and Dr. Palitha Dassanayake, Lunar Rover Development

Rameesha De Silva has a B.Sc. (hons), and a M.Phil in Engineering. When he started with the team he was a Postgraduate Researcher at the University of Moratuwa. His research included design and development of mobile manipulators and embedded controllers. Prior to that he worked as a visiting lecturer at the University. He has participated and won awards in several international robotics competitions, including Techfest and Robocon. He is a consultant in Vishwa Consultants and Services (Pvt) Ltd where he is involved in designing Mechantronics and automation solutions to industrial problems. After completing his PG degree he moved to the Arthur C Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies in Katubedda, Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, where he is a research engineer in robotics. ACCIMT has agreed to allow us to continue this project there, and will be exhibiting our Tesla Surveyor rover at TECHNO 2009 this October. Dr. Dassanayake is a Senior Lecturer of University of Moratuwa where he obtained his bachelor degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering. He did his doctoral degree in Saga University, Japan, and specialized in artificial intelligent control of robots. He is also a consultant, providing automated solutions to Sri Lankan industries. He is currently researching the use of Artificial Intelligence in controlling robotic systems, including the use of fuzzy logic, artificial neural networks and genetic algorithms.
