Vilko Klein, Our Wireless Guy

My work & my presentation Experimental Aeronautical broadband TCP/IP networks (the alternative way) Hello everyone My graduate work is "Options and guidelines for the development of wireless digital aeronautical telecommunication links". http://bib.irb.hr/prikazi-rad?&lang=en&rad=437926 I have idea how to resolve "last fly mile problem" at least over continental regions. Idea is to use existing technologies modified in way of using different licensed frequencies, more RF ERIP and adding of new routing protocol wich I've called 4D TCP/IP protocol. Such protocol could accelerate propagation of data packets trough dynamical environment. Part of my ideas I've presented at ESAVS conference in Berlin 2010. Idea started in year 2003, as employee of Rudjer Boskovic Institute, my colleagues and me have connected Cessna 172 over Zagreb over area of 10x10 km with WLAN Cisco equipment (Airenot 350 WLAN bridge 50 mW). We've put real-time video streaming through it, and everything worked. Here is a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwFpHbBV1no Few years later, my colleague Ph.D. Doris Novak, http://tkojetko.irb.hr/en/znanstvenikDetalji.php?sifznan=16221 and me have made new test with scanning steerable directed antennae. With similar technology (802.11b, 50 mW) we achieved even better results. Distance of 17 km have been achieved. Here is video from Croatian public TV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGSjZbVkDtg&feature=player_embedded We are trying to continue our R&D. Current work is finalizing of article for The Journal of Navigation (Cambridge University Press) with Mr. Novak and Mr Tomo Radišić.
