Synergy Moon puts the art in artifact. Art Capsule will be delivering a payload of precious human artifacts to our only natural satellite. In conjunction with Google Lunar X PRIZE, we present an offer of open submission to anyone who wishes to be immortalized on the lunar surface. Artists have no problem facing these issues, and resort thusly to expressive media to vent their frustrations against the prevailing façade of normalcy. In reality, we’re all artists. We should all defy the systems of conformity that support human life. Every new day is a new chance to live like never before, not just an opportunity to apply the same formula one more time. Art, in essence expression, is the only relief from our maddening world. It is lotion for our burning souls. The only real question is, what do you have to say?

The human impact upon outer space is negligible. Radio and television waves travel perpetually outward, gradually losing intensity in the faint dust of the void. At best, some of our strongest signals have reached the opposite edge of our galaxy. If our broadcasts do ever manage to reach other life, they demonstrate nothing more than simple knowledge of higher technology. To the galaxy around us, we might as well be television-watching, radio-listening robots who occasionally subject themselves to great bursts of radiation. With the exception of the Voyager spacecraft, which by their very design have a low success rate, there is no physical cosmic marker of the human spirit. The time has come to make the influence of the human race legendary. Our legacy should represent all that is human. We are passionate. We are inventive. We are curious. Our Art Capsule project is a sampling of the passions of the human race. Everyone in every corner of the globe has unique contentions shaped by their family, their environment and their genetics. These opinions are what make our journey through life worthwhile. The universe is a giant spectacle of physics and light and gravity. But what good is a spectacle without an audience? An honest expression about the world around us not only validates human consciousness, it also validates time and space. Supernovas can only be beautiful if you have eyes to see them; sound can only be music if you have ears to listen; and words only become concepts when you comprehend them. Potential for artistic endeavor is infinite in outer space, and it’s time we set about fulfilling it.    

Diversity will be key in crafting a genuine cross-section of the human species. The mark Synergy Moon will make on the moon will be an heirloom as longstanding and awe-inspiring as the Pyramids of Giza. We want submissions from all across the globe. In textbook altruistic form, we want art from every corner of the world. Let no economic, political or social barrier stand in your way. Art Capsule will be a very powerful educational tool. Primary and secondary school students will find ample motivation to produce work when they know there’s a chance it could be displayed on the moon. There is a distinct possibility that we will have the capability to project digital art on the surface. Who wouldn’t want to see their art Video Jockeyed on a lunar landscape? And let us not overlook the fact that a capsule filled with art on the moon is a glorious symbol of progress. Leaving an interpretive mark on extra-terrestrial terrain is the epitome of pioneering. Who else should we put on the forefront of the future than the youth generation? Children and students of all ages are being asked to offer their artistic output to Art Capsule.
