Communications and data transfer
One of the biggest challenges of the competition is communications and data transfer.
For each byte of information, a certain amount of energy is used. If you add a requirement of live streaming and the distance of 300 000km, the data transfer and communication gets very tricky. First thing we can do is try to reduce the amount of data being sent. This can be done by image / video compressing, which basically uses mathematical models to avoid duplication on series of images in a row. For example, if we have 10 images of a rock, and nothing is moving, they will be reduced almost to a "one picture" size because only the changes in the next picture are recorded and sent.
The next step is to ensure that the power supply and the equipment is tailored for our needs. Our CTO Mr. Vilko Klein has just finished the study determining our data transfer strategy and soon we will start contacting potential partners.
