April 12, 2011 - by Yuri Gagarin: Citizen of the Universe
Today, the whole world celebrates one of humankind's greatest
achievements when - 50 years ago on April 12, 1961 - Soviet cosmonaut
Yuri Gagarin became the first human to fly in space.
The flight lasted only 108 minutes, but as one poet put it, "it is a
very small time, but it compresses the centuries inside." And it is
true. The dream of generations was achieved when one great Russian man
overcame gravity, and sailed beyond the atmosphere. This was a March 31, 2011 - by Rover Thermal Analysis
Producing accurate heat transfer calculations represents the cornerstone for any successful space robot design. A thorough thermal analysis is required. In this picture, you can see team member Alexander Shaenko presenting his heat transfer data calculations.
The first thermal model of our rover which was very primitive has now been replaced by one which is much more advanced.
March 31, 2011 - by Selenokhod Team: meeting in progress
All of the 29 teams in this global competition have been conducting routine discussions about their projects. Assessing or evaluating many ideas, suggestions, technical outlines and potential solutions is necessary so that everyone can see and appreciate the full scope of the undertaking in question. Sending the first private lunar rover to the moon, and operating a rover successfully on the lunar surface are very difficult tasks.
March 30, 2011 - by Selenokhod 2.0: First demonstration
Today, our new rover concept is emerging for the first time, and yet we struggle to even call it a rover. In fact, it is a next generation, high tech robot for lunar exploration. Our robotic model is almost revolutionary due to its non-traditional system of movement, and the way in which it incorporates several new technical solutions.
Please take a moment to watch this animated video. Later, we will discuss the work which we have done thus far.

Check out the new video from the RT TV channel. It is devoted to the upcoming anniversary of Yury Gagarin's spaceflight, and it features "Selenokhod" as well as a look at the new Russian launchers, lunar missions and the Phobos probe.
February 28, 2011 - by Selenokhod partners with SmirnovDesign
Today, we are pleased to announce our new partner - SmirnovDesign which is part of the Smirnov Product Development Group, along with Smirnov Technology and Yellow Mountain.
This new partnership will support and enhance further work on our Selenokhod lunar rover. SmirnovDesign will allow our team to optimize rover fabrication, while ensuring that the final design is very visually appealing and extremely functional as well.

February 3, 2011 - by The first manmade object to make a soft landing on the Moon - Luna 9
On February 3 1966, the Luna 9 became the first spacecraft to successfully execute a soft landing on the Moon. Thus, the Ocean of Storms was transformed into an historic landing site. Up until this monumental accomplishment 45 years ago, no other planetary body in our Solar System had been reached in this way by a manmade object.
