Team Selenokhod partners with ASCON Group
ASCON Group, a developer and integrator of professional CAD / AEC / PLM solutions, is now an official partner of Team Selenokhod. Under the partnership, the company has provided the only Russian GLXP team with licensed KOMPAS-3D – a professional 3D and 2D software solution for CAD - in support of the design and development of Team Selenokhod's lunar rover.
This powerful software provides a coherent pathway to increased
efficiency and higher quality output, while speeding the overall design process. This easy - to - use software also provides special tools not only for professional 3D solid modeling and 2D design, but also for advanced surface and shape modeling in a basic feature set.
The product modeling in KOMPAS-3D can be carried out by various methods, namely: down-top modeling (using finished components), top-down modeling (designing components in the context of a specific design), modeling based on a layout outline drawing such as a kinematic diagram, or a combination of modeling methods.
"We often adopt a daring approach to engineering projects and, therefore decided to partner with Team Selenokhod. Our KOMPAS-3D system is well-known in the space industry, and experts from Team Selenokhod also chose it for this reason. We see Team Selenokhod as the likely winner in this competition and in the process, Russia's national cosmonautics sector will once again convey its leadership position to the world," said Dmitry Osnach, marketing director of ASCON.
The first steps have already being taken by the team. At present, the technical proposals have been crafted and approved, and, the overall scope and objectives of the mission are established. Tests are well underway of some of the technologies and systems incorporated in this lunar mission as well.
Stay tuned for further news.
