Odyssey Moon to fly “MoonShot” Dutch Science Instrument

Odyssey Moon has signed a Letter of Intent with the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) to fly a Dutch science instrument called "MoonShot" aboard Odyssey Moon’s inaugural M-1 lunar mission. MoonShot is a pre-eminent scientific and technical partnership led by TNO, together with other Dutch partners. The MoonShot group has designed a miniaturized instrument that quickly analyzes the composition of the lunar surface, combining Raman spectroscopy and LIBS (Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy) to provide real-time mineralogical and elemental analysis of lunar samples. The Odyssey Moon agreement with TNO sets the stage for MoonShot to become the first Dutch instrument on the surface of the Moon. "We welcome this historic opportunity to facilitate a Dutch scientific and technical footprint on the Moon,” said Dr. Robert (Bob) Richards, CEO of Odyssey Moon. “The MoonShot instrument will provide critical new knowledge for humanity’s permanent return to the Moon”. ###
