Buzz Aldrin @ Moon Express
"Now, together, we should reaffirm the value of NASA, private sector engagement in space transportation, and America's leadership in manned space exploration." - Buzz Aldrin
Buzz Aldrin is one of only twelve human beings to walk on another world. Moonwalker, Astronaut of Apollo XI and Gemini 12; MIT Doctorate in astronautics and Korean War veteran/fighter pilot of 66 missions, his journey to the Moon on Apollo 11 with his colleagues Neil Armstrong and Mike Collins was the first of six missions that landed humans on the Moon and heralded the era of humanity's transformation to a multi-world species. Apollo redefined what was possible while fundamentally changing our perspective toward planet Earth and ourselves as humans.
Buzz, a long time friend of our co-founder & CEO, Bob Richards, visited Moon Express on Friday, January 6th, 2012, and many of our staff had the honor of meeting him and briefing him on their work.
Our co-founder and CTO Barney Pell and NASA Ames colleagues Pascal Lee, Gary Martin and Rick Hurtz joined us in touring Buzz through Moon Express offices and facilities and showing him a number of our developments under way, including our collaborative lander test vehicle and facilities.
Buzz has distinguished himself as a proactive and outspoken visionary of our human expansion into space with essential permanence through collaborative government and commercial enterprise. He is also a tireless advocate and supporter of education and has been a long time friend of the International Space University, Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS), and many other space education and advocacy organizations.
Buzz puts himself out there and continues to inspire, motivate and educate... and we love his warm-hearted voyages into entertainment as the world's only Moonwalker wrapper and ballroom dancer...
Moon Express is still buzzing from his visit and his inspiration to our young team was a fun and profound day they will never forget.
Thank you Buzz! - you are a true hero of humanity.
