JURBAN Blog

You are here

We are going to the Moon, are you excited?

Blaze is! And this blog is part of JURBAN's reboot for 2012. We have been so focused on the technical and administrative aspects of getting to the Moon, we have forgotten why we signed up for the competition in the first place. It's that story that people really care about, and it's the people that will make our mission possible. If space geeks just keep talking to themselves, nothing groundbreaking is going to happen in space. To make space common place (like all space geeks want), by definition the general public must be involved.

In the following video, Blaze Sanders - Technical Program Manager of JURBAN makes a fool of himself (22:22) and talks about the exciting things going on in space RIGHT NOW that drive him everyday. Blaze is a future Martian astronaut, who was a NASA civil servant at Marshall Space Flight Center and is now the CEO & CTO of Solar System Express, a new space company he started to enable space settlement, via increased human capability on Earth. Elon Musk is sometimes described as the real life Tony Stark, and Blaze hopes to follow in Elon's steps. Solar System Express is currently working on a Ironman like thruster boot to enable 120,000+ foot skydives and more polished wingsuit landings without a parachute. Elements of that system are being used in the JURBAN robot, so maybe the next blog will be about that. Lets us know if you would like that...
