The GRAIL mission is similar to the GRACE mission currently surveying the Earth.  Using a similar technique, with improved accuracy, the GRAIL satellites are measuring and mapping the variations in the Moon's gravitational field.  This study may help so give more insights into the origin of the Moon as well.  http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/news.cfm?release=2012-061
