The video camera, Flip video, which Google Lunar X PRIZE provided for the Teams is a wonderful little toy, and most of the videos posted on the blog and web sites comes from this source. Yesterday the program that compresses and transforms the videos, moving them from the video device to the PC, informed me, that a new free version, with additional features was available. Given that I like the tool, I of course pressed the upgrade button. However, to my horror, the upgrade screwed up the regional settings in windows XP, changed the position of the taskbar, removed my regional keyboards, changed my homepage in internet explorer and so on. I still do not have a full overview over the damage, that will only become apparent, as I try other functions used more seldom. Now what to do ??? Well I wrote the company as follows: "Dear Flip video, I just used my classic flip video, and the software product indicated that a free upgrade was available. So I downloaded it, and installed it right now. To my big surprise the software messed up my windows interface, changed the regional settings and changed the position of the windows task bar. This is not acceptable, and is not what is expected by a serious vendor of a good product. I hope to have a fast reaction, and shall wait to inform other of this issue until after your officially notes response time. Yours sincerely Palle Haastrup, Euroluna" This morning I had an answer, which is not an answer to the question, or an "you should have done as follows" or "sorry we will change", but a canned long reply on how to uninstall and reinstall the flip video in an older version. Therefore my clear recommendation to the other Teams and anyone else having a Flip video: DO NOT UPGRADE, even though the program will nag you every time it starts!!! Palle
