Barcelona Moon Team opens its lander to other teams rovers

Barcelona Moon Team lander will have 25 kilog rams of extra payload divided in several slots. Between two to four rovers can be integrated below the main lander’s platform, around the legs. The taxi fare for teams will be 800KEuros per kilogram of rover, e.g. 8 kg rover will cost the competitor just EUR 6,4 million placed on the Moon surface.

The method of deploying the cargo will be by simply releasing it from the platform. Because of its relatively small mass and the gravity acceleration of 1/6 the Earth’s, the impact will be assumable by the BMT rover. Moreover, the rover is being designed to be reversible, thus avoiding any problem if the rover descents over a rock and turns upside down.

The reversibility poses many challenges including position of the camera and the power generation, being this last solved by deploying solar panels on both sides of the rover body.
