Polaris: Bigger than Red Rover
Since the beginning of March, Astrobotic has been hard at work fabricating the carbon fiber chassis for Polaris. It involved cutting and sanding foam molds, and applying epoxy, sealant, and release agent. This week the team pulled the final side beam out of oven, completing the chassis piece-set. The chassis measures 1.8 m by 1.4 m yet only weighs about 10 kg. In the coming weeks, we will be fabricating Polaris's wheels and assembling the drive chain and chassis.
