The volute for the liquid oxygen pump of the Executor engine

ARCA finished working on the volute for the first liquid oxygen pump of the Executor engine. The volute is made from duralumin 6060 and 6082, compatible with liquid oxygen, offered by ALRO SA, sponsor for the Executor engine. It was designed and manufactured exclusively at ARCA, using techniques of casting, turning and milling. The volute is subjected to thermal regimes and pressures ranging from -180 to -20 degrees Celsius and at pressures from 3.5 to 96 atmospheres. Next week the team will test it in the working conditions mentioned above. This component will convey a quantity of 59 kg / sec of liquid oxygen. For the Executor engine there will be made, in the initial phase, four such components, each for a turbopump.

The ALRO SA company supports ARCA with aluminum alloys for manufacturing the Executor engine. For ARCA working with Alro SA is important because parts for the Executor engine, the orbital launcher Haas 2 and IAR-111 Excelsior plane are produced from aluminum alloys made in the plant in Slatina.

ARCA thanks ALRO SA for supporting the Executor engine and the Romanian Space Program.
