About

Angelicum Chile, a team formed by aerospace and satellite engineers with experience in national space programs developed in cooperation with international space companies (Surrey, Astrium and others) and global entrepreneurs, announced its official entry into the Google Lunar X PRIZE - a $30 million competition that challenges space professionals and engineers from across the globe to build and launch to the moon a privately funded spacecraft capable of completing a series of exploration and transmission tasks. Team Angelicum Chile, headquartered in the city of Santiago is among 29 teams from 17 countries that are competing for their share of the $30 million prize purse.

Together with other national institutions, we will invite and welcome the participation of professors and students from national and international universities as well as representatives from industry, the business community, technology developers, entrepreneurs, and to all interested people who would like to contribute to the development and success of this challenging project.

This challenging space technology development will require us to search and recognize new related technologies in diverse fields such as robotics, telecommunication, data and image processing, automation and control, and teleprocesses. This endeavour will help us to improve and increase awareness and interest in space exploration across Chile and Latin America. We expect and hope that, through our participation, we will be able to motivate and encourage our citizens and discover new talents, especially in the area of the technology and science.

Angelicum Chile started its activities in Chile since 1998 through special investments of national and global interest. For the Project GLXP, Angelicum initiated an intense effort to congregate professionals in the field of aerospace and satellite engineering. Over the last few months, these professionals have been joined by important national and international entrepreneurs and other specialists in areas such as strategy, planning, international relations, etc.

The team leader for this project in Chile is the Astronautic Engineer (University of Southern California), combat pilot from the Air Force (retired) and commercial pilot Mr. Klaus Von Storch who up to this time has been the only official Chilean candidate to participate in a mission to the International Space Station.
