Dear space explorers and enthusiasts of Moon exploration,
From this moment we start regular posting of Selenokhod team news here. Actually we had busy times during these two months after the official team announcement, setting up the processes in the team and working out the basic technical structure of the project. Nevertheless we managed to participate in several outstanding events in Russia which gave us some footage in mass media.
…October 11th was one of those outstanding days which we have here from time to time – Selenokhod team received an invitation from Russian space agency, and we had a marvelous opportunity to witness the landing of ISS Expedition 20 at early morning from the Mission Control Center (TsUP) in Korolev city!
After the landing the press conference was held with the official committee which supervised the landing. The members of the committee were Russian Space Agency deputy head Vitaliy Davydov, RSC 'Energia’ chief Vitaliy Lopota, Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center (GCTC) chief Sergey Krikalev and others. The special guest of the committee this time was Lori Garver, NASA Deputy Administrator.
Our rover mock-up was an unusual ‘guest’ at this event. We were glad to draw focused attention not only from the media, but also from prominent experts of Russian space industry. And we had an opportunity to answer a lot of questions about Selenokhod project. This is encouraging – private and “traditional” space in Russia seem to be following the same path now!
