Here's a clip featuring the final assembly of Asimov Jr. the teams first rover Prototype. Once the especially designed main computing units is added to AJ he will master various driving tests.

What a long strange trip it has been so far.

The last couple of days have been crazy. There's no other word for it.
Almost every core team member made it to Berlin for the 26C3. Some even came from France, Austria and even Hamburg. The presentation went rather well. Most of us are technicans and not used to speaking in front of a big audience. And by big I mean 2000 people in front of you and potentially tens of thousands on the internet.
But you know how you get to Carnegie Hall. Practice.

The feedback has been great so far. A lot of people joined us at our booth after the presentation and asked us out on everything. From minor technical problems to why we're not selling T-Shirts(We had something prepared but time threw a monkey wrench in our wheels. Expect some sort of webshop in the near future.) Speaking of website. A new one will be up soon. With more ways to let you know what we are up to. For now you can find additional informations on Twitter.

Expect some video content on a tube near you soon.

For the 1st time in history the Part-Time-Scientists will be granting an extensive insight in their work to the general public.
On December 28, in front of a live audience of 1500 people and millions more via the live stream freely available at this here website.
For everyone who likes to watch it in company of fellow nerds visit the public screenings listed here.

The presentation will feature:

An introduction to the GoogleLunarXPRIZE by the team leader Robert Boehme
A showcase of the lunar rover prototype Asimov Jr.
A comprehensive presentation of the all powering main computing unit with an introduction of how and why high tech can survive in space
Details of the teams own, independent Earth-Moon communication solution.

And to make things even more exiting: We have a new logo!

On December 6th,
we had the opportunity to present both the GoogleLunarX-Prize and our team at this years Eurospaceward conference.

Many thanks to William Pomerantz for allowing us to step in for him in on the GLXP intro presentation.

This year was the first year were GoogleLunarX-Prize teams from Europe had the chance to represent themselves.

There were a lot of very interesting talks and topics.

Besides us the teams Amalia (Team Italia), White Label Space and Open Moon visited the ESW.

The Part Time Scientists Programming team is looking for proactive and hardworking software engineers to contribute to current and future applications.

The team is responsible for VHDL, qEmu, AI development, simulations, Linux Kernel Drivers and image/video processing.

As an engineer on the Programming team, your responsibilities will be to develop an emulator with qEmu and GHDL

Our systems are based on the Xilinx FPGAs hardware incliding PowerPC processors and VHDL periphery.

This inclides designing an Artificial Intelligence te be embedded in our core technology.

You will work closely with other programmers, engineers and different individuals within the Part Time Scientists.

This is your chance to be part of a revolition that will change the way we think of space exploration forever.

If you're a versatile programmer and a space nut, this challenge is perfect for you.

We can provide you with a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Key Requirements:

Strong programming skills in C++ and VHDL
Excellent communication and collaborative skills
Excitement and passion to work on a amazing project
Deep understanding of performance assessment and optimization
Must be able to work independently

Preferred skills:

Linux and Kernel programming experience
High Definition Video Codec or stereo-picture programming experience
Experience in A.I. (steering behavior system)
Good English (German is a plis but not a necessity)

On December 28th,
the Part-Time-Scientists will be holding a lengthy presentation on the progress of the GoogleLunarXPRIZE, the PTS team and their collaborative way of teamwork in the Web 2.0 era and an introduction to their technical concept.

During the presentation the latest lunar rover prototype “Asimov Jr.” will enter the stage.

The entire presentation will be streamed live and available in HD at the 26C3 WebSite.

We will be providing a booth afterwards where everyone can see and touch all the hardware developed so far.

Topics include but are not limited to:

our communication system
"Asimov Jr" from design to production
the history of Space exploration, the X-Prize and the GLXP
presentation of our Sponsors and Partner and how they support us

At the end of our 2 hours presentation we have prepared for a very interesting Q&A round featuring some very special guests.
