Saturday Chinese Spacewalker Zhai Zhigang became the first Taikonaut to perform an extra-vehicular activity. Today SpaceX successfully launched its Falcon 1 rocket to orbit after three failed attempts. What a weekend! Both events come as NASA prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary this Wednesday and they mark the beginning of a new and exciting chapter for space exploration that builds on the triumphs of our past.

X PRIZE is a proud catalyst of this new era- first with the ground breaking Ansari X PRIZE won in 2004 and now with the Google Lunar X PRIZE! Some people in the space community lament they were born too late and missed the hay day of Apollo. Me, I say that I was born at just the right moment to be a part of what will be humanity's historic move into space.

Odyssey Moon is proud to be a part of this moment in time, when new nations and new companies are making their first steps into the vast future that awaits us in space. We humans who dare to work towards that future will get to create whole new systems for how to live and operate off planet. Who knows maybe we will launch on a SpaceX rocket, maybe we will build in inter-operability with a Chinese orbiter. The future is ours to write, that is what makes it so exciting.
