Part of the mission of the Google Lunar XPRIZE is to create the “Apollo moment” for a new generation and get audiences excited about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). We have created some very fun and unique programs for children and adults to actively participate in and be a part of this worldwide competition to the Moon.
Back To The Moon For Good, a fulldome planetarium show that premiered in November of 2013, presents the fascinating story of the first privately-funded competition to land a robotic spacecraft on the Moon. The show includes basic lunar science, speculation about humanity’s future on the Moon, and a glimpse at the endeavors of the international teams who are vying for the prize, to be won by 2015. It is available for a no-cost lease to all digital theaters and portable domes.
The MoonBots Challenge is an interactive robotics competition that emulates the real Google Lunar XPRIZE and increases students’ interests in STEM topics. Geared for a youth audience between the ages of 9 years to 17 years, this competition is open to youth who love robots, LEGO, and want to learn about lunar exploration. No prior experience with programming robots is needed.
MoonBots-in-a-Box has been specially created for Science Centers all over the world to exhibit the Google Lunar XPRIZE. This interactive LEGO MINDSTORMS Moonscape game allows participants to test out their robotics skills while learning about lunar exploration.
