Lunar Roundup: Team Merger!

Welcome to this week’s Lunar Roundup! A power rankings-style look at who & what’s been “Awesome!” over the last seven days of the Google Lunar X PRIZE.

Odyssey Moon, the first-ever Google Lunar X PRIZE team, announced they are merging into team SpaceIL; while Angelicum took a detailed look at their designs; STELLAR announced new sponsorship; Synergy Moon featured their NanoSat project; and Part Time Scientists gave a great interview.

1) Merger!

 The first-ever team---Odyssey Moon---announced that they are merging with team SpaceIL:

 

"This team has a tremendously high probability of achieving one of the greatest space challenges of our time, the landing of a private, non-governmental lander on the Moon. This will probably be one of the largest media events of 2015." - Odyssey Moon advisor Michael Potter

The historic merger puts the prize at 24 teams; the teams have chosen to retain the SpaceIL identity.

2) Beetles!

Angelicum posted a video looking in detail at their rover concepts, and the unusual inspiration for them:

STELLAR announced that they've procured some new sponsors, and shared a cool graphic:

Synergy Moon posted a feature on their NanoSat project, which includes a space telescope:
