Lunar Roundup: Greater Exposure

Bill Nye hanging out with us at the SpaceTechExpo. [Quote source :) ]

This week in the Google Lunar XPRIZE featured the SpaceTechExpo (with moments like the one above); progress from Plan B  (including a hands-on with a 3D printer); one of the teams getting fashionable at a moon mining contest; and some share-worthy quotes!:

Rapid Progress

Plan B  featured some of their recent progress, including getting hands-on with a 3D printer!:

Expo-nential

Moon Express ' CEO, Bob Richards, delivered some great quotes on Moon mining at the SpaceTechExpo:

"Asteroid bombardment on the moon has created rich opportunities for mining. The moon is an aggregator of natural resources. It’s not an unknown anymore – we’ve been to the moon, brought back samples, analyzed the data, and we know it can be economical. What we bring back will have high returns."

And also present at the SpaceTechExpo were teams Stellar  and Angelicvm  (and, of course, us!):

Fine Mining

Meanwhile, Moon Express  ' Mike Vergalla went to Florida to don the mighty moon-testing suit and be a judge for the NASA Lunabotics moon-mining contest:

Grand Canyon

Part Time Scientists  ' Asimov, in his latest comic, revealed a cool Moon fact:

Copernicus is freaking huge!:

Buzz Who?

And with all the hobnobbing this week, Stellar  's Robert Brand shared a funny story:

"Moon walking astronaut first! I was getting a photo with Buzz Aldrin when Nick Howes came up and interrupted us and said 'I hope you don't mind, but I really would like to have my photo taken with this man'. Oddly he was talking about me, leaving Buzz Aldrin wondering who the hell I was. I expect that may be a first for him!"

I’ll be rounding these up every week, so keep an eye here for the best developments from our very own moon race.
